It's the Final Countdown!

If you remember the original version then you'll remember the good times of power suits, men with poodle perms and the double skin tight stonewashed denim that was the eighties! Sadly I can't transport you back in time but I can whisk you somewhere a lot more relaxing through my competition. It's now entered the closing stages so if you want to be in with a chance to win a luxury 5* getaway courtesy of the Duchy of Cornwall holiday cottages then be quick as the end of the month is just around the corner and the competition will be closed at midnight on the 31st of July.

Ruth Saberton Competition Duchy of Cornwall Holiday Cottages

Like so much of the UK Cornwall has been enjoying some glorious weather recently and according to the long range forecast we still have a lot more to come. With all this good weather I've been exploring the creeks locally and even took my little boat up river to the historic market town of Lostwithiel for fish and chips the other evening. Lostwithiel is a lovely town at the top of the Fowey River and a few minutes from the Duchy holiday cottages and Duchy Nursery, Cafe and shop.

It's incredible to think that the sleepy stretch of water I motored quietly up was once a busy trading route and used by merchants. It supported so many different trades.

Coming into Lostwithiel on a high tide was wonderful. Being overlooked by the apartments felt like the Med or a metropolitan canal.

Al fresco always makes everything taste better.
